LSU football is looking to bounce back in 2021 after finishing last season with a dismal overall record of 5-5, and things are looking optimistic with new staff hires and players making themselves known across the roster this offseason.

But the recruiting game never stops, and the ability to consistently reload is what keeps great teams, well, great.

One player LSU has its eyes on is all-purpose back Trevor Etienne, a four-star Class of 2022 prospect out of Jennings High School in Jennings, Louisiana.

The Tigers seem to be in a good position in their quest to land Etienne, according to a recent report from Rivals National Recruiting Director Adam Gorney.

Here’s a look at what Gorney had to say about Etienne’s level of interest in LSU:

The latest rumor about Etienne is that LSU is starting to emerge as the frontrunner in his recruitment for numerous reasons. It’s the in-state school, he could carve out his own thing in Baton Rouge, he likes the offensive line class LSU is putting together (led by Will Campbell) and some people close to him might favor the Tigers. There’s no doubt Clemson is involved for sure, and Alabama, Ohio State and Penn State will get a look as well, but LSU might be the team to beat.

It will be interesting to see how the rest of Etienne’s recruitment shakes out, but with LSU “very thin” at running back as head coach Ed Orgeron recently described it, making sure LSU has the backs it needs on roster should be a priority for future seasons.
