Where Dillon Gabriel stands among the highest-rated transfers in Dan Lanning era

A look at where Oregon Ducks new QB Dillon Gabriel ranks among the best transfers to come to Eugene during the Dan Lanning era.

Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks made a massive splash in the transfer portal, landing a commitment from former Oklahoma Sooners’ quarterback Dillon Gabriel, a player who many considered among the top passers on the open market this offseason.

Throughout his career, Gabriel has been prolific when it comes to putting up numbers. He’s thrown for almost 15,000 yards in his career, with a 125-26 TD-to-INT ratio in those five seasons. Most recently, Gabriel threw for 3,360 yards 30 TDs, and 6 INTs while also rushing for 12 TDs.

Once again, the Ducks have shown an adequate ability to utilize the transfer portal for their benefit, increasing the level of talent on the roster and finding players who can have an impact right away. Since Lanning got to Oregon two years ago, he’s landed players like Bo Nix, Bucky Irving, Christian Gonzalez, Jordan Burch, Tez Johnson, and many more impactful players via the portal.

So where does Gabriel rank among the 24 (non-specialist) Oregon transfers in the Lanning era? There are two ways to look at it. For starters, you can take into account the 247Sports Transfer Portal rankings. However, those rankings don’t always hold true to what we see playing out on the field — for instance, Bo Nix was a 3-star prospect in the portal, who is now a finalist for the Heisman Trophy.

For good measure, I added my own rankings based on how good each player ended up being in Eugene.

With all of that being said, let’s take a look at the best transfers that the Ducks have landed since Lanning has been here, and see where their new QB mixes in:
