Where CB Kam Alexander stands among the top-rated transfers in Dan Lanning era

A look at where Oregon Ducks’ new cornerback transfer Kam Alexander ranks among the top-rated transfers to come to Oregon under Dan Lanning.

As the offseason rolls on, Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks continue to work their magic in the transfer portal to put together a roster for the 2024 season.

While much of the roster building has consisted of stars from 2023 announcing they will return, the Ducks picked up a new addition on Monday. Former UTSA cornerback Kam Alexander announced his transfer to Oregon after an official visit in Eugene over the weekend.

Alexander is a sixth-year senior who will come in and compete for a starting spot right away. He could be one of the bigger instant-impact players on the defense. He was one of the top-graded CBs in the nation a year ago, according to Pro Football Focus, and he has a high upside in Eugene.

So where does he rank among the 28 (non-specialist) Oregon transfers in the Lanning era? There are two ways to look at it. For starters, you can take into account the 247Sports transfer portal rankings. However, those rankings don’t always hold match what we see play out on the field. For instance, Bo Nix was a three-star prospect in the portal, but he finished his college career as a Heisman Trophy finalist in New York.

For good measure, I added my own rankings based on how good each player ended up being in Eugene.

Let’s take a look at the best transfers that the Ducks have landed since Lanning has been here, and see where Alexander lands:
