Texas commit Maalik Murphy had a strong performance on Day 1 of the 2021 Elite 11 Finals.
The event continued on Thursday evening at Mira Cost High School in Manhattan Beach (CA), where 20 of the nation’s top quarterback prospects from the 2022 recruiting class are competing for the 11 spots. Thursday’s workout included an individual Pro Day session from each finalist. The signal-callers each made 20 throws.
Murphy didn’t perform as strong on Day 2 as he did throughout the opening workout, but he still showcased his strong arm and potential. The 247Sports recruiting team is on site and released their rankings of the top 11 performers after the two days of workouts.
Murphy landed at No. 10 overall. Fortunately for the Texas commit, there are still two days left of the event to attempt to increase his ranking.
While his second day wasn’t quite as sharp as day one, we still plenty from the Texas commit to know he continues to develop and flourish, with an arm and dynamite in the elbow that the other passers covet. He looks as confident as we’ve ever seen him and he’s completely in his element when plays call for him to flash the big arm.
Clemson commit Cade Klubnik landed at No. 1 overall, while former Texas commit Quinn Ewers came in at No. 5.
Murphy is currently rated the No. 8 quarterback prospect for the 2022 cycle and the No. 8 overall recruit from the state of California according to 247Sports. His junior high school film is limited and underwhelming, therefore he needs a solid showing to secure one of the 11 spots.
The official Elite 11 rankings are determined by 50% junior season film and performance and 50% camp evaluation and physical traits.
