When were Josh Allen, Drew Lock teammates?

The NFL is very much a fraternity type of place. We always see the same coaches and players switching places all over the league. But these relationships start early and for Bills quarterback Josh Allen and Broncos quarterback Drew Lock it started when they were teammates.

But wait, where were they teammates?

Allen, the Firebaugh farmer from California took the scenic route to the NFL via Wyoming. The swag-filled Lock learned the ropes as a Missouri guy through and through, attending Mizzou.

So, again, teammates?

Spike ball teammates, that is.

Prior to the two facing off on Saturday’s Week 15 showdown at Mile High between the Broncos (5-8) and Bills (10-3), Lock discussed Allen in an interview with CBS Denver and disclosed their relationship as partners during the two-against-two based game.

It’s known in western New York that Allen works out with QB “guru” Jordan Palmer during the offseason, but he’s not alone. A couple guys in the NFL do, Lock among them. Denver’s quarterback disclosed the fun they’ve shared as teammates earlier this week:

Naturally the two will be battling this weekend, but expect to see a nice pre-and-postgame hug shared between these guys.

If it’s any consolation prize, Jets quarterback Sam Darnold is another guy who’s known to workout with Palmer & Co. during the offseason. Sounds like Darnold just can’t catch a break…

But Allen did also discussed Lock on Wednesday via video conference, and echoed Lock. The two are buds, and confirmed that Lock has him in the swag category.

“We get along really well and we have a good time when we’re together,” Allen said. “He’s a talented player, he’s starting to put it together now, he’s extremely fun to watch. He’s a really good buddy of mine.

I will say this, he’s a 10 times better dancer than I am.”

For what it’s worth, the former (spike ball) teammates will be facing off for the first time as well. Last season, the Bills topped the Broncos, 20-3, however, the then-rookie in Lock was on injured reserve at the time with a thumb injury.
