Bottom line
Mississippi State was one of the youngest teams in the SEC last season and returns more experienced than it was before (though the bar was obviously set low in this area last season). That growth in experience includes Rogers himself, as well as members of his supporting cast.
With this being an offense so focused on perfecting the basics, we can expect Rogers to continue to get better where the fundamentals are concerned.
There’s little reason we shouldn’t expect Rogers to be in the top half of the quarterback rankings for the conference this year, and he has the chance to post some big numbers with the favorable scheme he’s playing in.
It’s still early on, and it’s hard to give a completely fair evaluation to players after all the circumstances surrounding the 2020 season. But Rogers seems to be setting a good foundation for a quarterback with a chance at becoming one of the SEC’s best in 2021 so long as he can continue with upward momentum.
