What we learned from Texas Tech vs Houston Baptist

Texas opens Big 12 conference play against Texas Tech on Saturday. Here is what we learned from their season opener against Houston Baptist:

Texas Tech has a plethora of receivers

In the win against Houston Baptist, Texas Tech quarterback Alan Bowman found 11 different receivers. Four players had at least 50 yards, with KeSean Carter leading the way with 86 yards and a touchdown. Nobody in particular stood out but Bowman distributed the ball well.

On the Red Raider depth chart, Erik Ezukanma is listed as the starting X-receiver. The redshirt sophomore finished with four receptions for 66 yards. T.J. Vasher, the big-bodied 6-6 Z-receiver could cause matchups on the outside for Texas.

One position the Longhorns are loaded at is cornerback. Especially with Chris Adimora emerging as an every-down player. When healthy, Alan Bowman is a top quarterback in the Big 12. Josh Thompson and D’Shawn Jamison will play big roles in trying to cover his plethora of favorite targets.
