What we learned from Bills’ season-ending loss to Texans

Four things we learned from the Buffalo Bills’ season-ending Wild-Card loss to the Houston Texans.

Glaring needs have to be addressed to get Bills back to playoffs in 2020

The Bills took advantage of an easy schedule to get to 10 wins and the no. 5 seed in the AFC playoffs. While it was the best season the Bills have turned in since the 1990s, it still wasn’t good enough for the Bills to advance in the postseason or really compete with the best teams in the conference.

The loss in Houston gave the Bills a 1-5 final record against 2019 playoff teams, with the lone win coming against the Marcus Mariota-led Tennessee Titans. After their Thanksgiving win moved them to 9-3, the Bills closed the season with a 1-4 record, losing to three AFC playoff teams and picking up their lone win against Devlin Hodges.

What we learned is that the Bills are good enough to beat the mediocre or poor teams on their schedule, but not good enough to hang with the big dogs. The Bills won’t be taken seriously as a true contender until they rise up and beat some of the best teams in the league.

To get to that point, the Bills have some holes to fill in the 2020 offseason.
