The Chicago Bears finally snapped their six-game losing streak with an impressive 36-7 win over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

While it’s still difficult to mention the Bears in the same breath as the postseason discussion, they’re still mathematically “in the hunt” as they improved to 6-7 on the season. But they’re going to need a lot of help.

Over the last 10 seasons, NFL teams that have started the season 6-7 have made the playoffs just 22% of the time.

If the Bears had lost on Sunday, their playoff chances would’ve dropped to 2%. Chicago once had a 90% chance of making the playoffs earlier this season at 5-1 before their six-game losing streak sent them spiraling.

The odds of making the postseason do get slightly better for teams that start 7-7 — a measly 36 percent — as the Bears have a chance to do against the Minnesota Vikings in Week 15. But they’re going to need a lot of help, especially when it comes to the Arizona Cardinals.
