The Bowl Championship Series is the remnant of a bygone era, yet, given that the College Football Playoff is on the verge of changing, what we know now will soon be obsolete, as well.

So, hypothetically, what if the BCS was still in existence? Who would be No. 1 and No. 2 and headed for a national championship? Who’s on the outside looking in, but would be due to go to a BCS bowl game?

We have two more weeks left of the regular season, so there’s more to play out, including rivalry week, but the BCS was a mixture of the human element and computer rankings. It was imperfect, but it determined the national champion for years.
