What Stefon Diggs first thought upon being traded to the Bills

Stefon Diggs gives first thoughts on being traded from the Minnesota Vikings to the Buffalo Bills.

The biggest news out of One Bills Drive this offseason was Buffalo’s decision to swing a trade for Minnesota Vikings wide receiver Stefon Diggs. The cost for the Bills was high, a first-round pick and slew of others. That deal came all the way back in March.

It’s been a long while, but we’ve finally heard from Diggs for the first time on Wednesday since that trade, as he chatted during a video press conference. The 26-year-old finally answered the question that many were wondering a few months back.

What went through his head when he realized he was heading to Buffalo?

Well in a way, actions spoke louder than words for the playmaker. While the Bills and Vikings don’t meet often since they’re in different conferences, the two teams did clash on the gridiron in recent memory and it was a… memorable one for both Diggs and Bills fans alike.

As double-digit underdogs on the road, Buffalo topped Minnesota 27-6. The game was a big display of effort from the Bills, and specifically their quarterback, Josh Allen. It was also a famous game for Allen. Remember when he jumped over linebacker Anthony Barr? Diggs had a front-row seat to that Allen’s intangibles such as that leap of faith, made him ready to his Buffalo adventure.

“When I first heard it, I was super excited. I didn’t know too much about the Buffalo organization. We had played them in the past… they did gave us a little bit of a whooping, so I had have some recollection or some flashback of that whooping,” Diggs said. “They put a beatdown on us so I’ve had respect for them.”

“The first thing I thought about was Josh Allen and I started thinking about the hell of a defense they had here,” Diggs continued. “Big quarterback, big arm, guy who plays with a lot of heart who can move around. I want to make sure to keep lines of communication open. We’re already hanging, playing video games together. We’re trying to make the most of time we have now.”

So far, so good for Diggs in Buffalo. The wideout also said he’s pretty much “bought in on playing football” in 2020, so Buffalo has his first season to look forward to.
