The Buffalo Bills were already satisfied with what they’ve gotten out of wide receiver Stefon Diggs. That first-round pick going to the Minnesota Vikings for his services still ended up feeling like a steal.
Now there’s even more reason to believe so.
According to the Buffalo News, Diggs’ seven catches he recorded in Buffalo’s 40-0 win over the Houston Texans in Week 4 put him in NFL record books.
It was Diggs’ 20th game as a Bill, and no player in NFL history has recorded more catches than Diggs in their first 20 games with a team. Overall, Diggs has now caught 153 balls with the Bills.
Previously that record was held by Lionel Taylor of the Denver Broncos, who caught 151 catches in his first 20 games with a team. Those 20 took place between 1960-61.
On those seven catches vs. the Texans, Diggs had 114 yards. That was his first 100-yard outing of 2021.
NFL statistician Mike Haim also added some franchise context to Diggs’ 153 catches so far.
He’s already tied with Sammy Watkins and Lonnie Johnson on the team’s all-time list at No. 27 overall.
Diggs’ 20-game pace also joins the league-wide pace kicker Tyler Bass is on.
Bass has 185 points in that time span. That’s the second-most in NFL history in one player’s first 20 career games.
Buffalo will be eager to see both players continue this pace in their big showdown with the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 5.
