Arkansas Football is expected to enjoy more success in 2022 than they have in many seasons. In order to achieve that goal, the Razorbacks need a strong leader that everyone looks to in all situations.
Offensive Coordinator [autotag]Kendal Briles[/autotag] says that his offense has that leader in quarterback [autotag]KJ Jefferson[/autotag].
In a recent media availability, Briles was asked about his signal caller’s best quality, and it appears to be the most important feature that any quarterback can have.
“It’s just leading,” Briles said. “That’s been so great — to have a guy that’s done it because when he talks, they listen.”
Briles says that Jefferson proved himself in a mighty way on the field last season, as he passed for 2,676 yards and 21 touchdowns, and was also the team’s leading rusher with 664 yards. Now that Briles knows what kind of player Jefferson is, he has been pleased with the way that Jefferson has stepped into a leadership role.
“I mean, this time a year ago we really had no idea what he could do on the field,” Briles said. “So now we know what we have from a competitor standpoint, from a player. His development as a pure quarterback, throwing the football, seeing reads. His leadership skills, in the locker room, during summer workouts. Everything that he’s done, he’s put himself in position to have a great year.”
Briles went on to add that he has full confidence in Jefferson, and that he “wouldn’t trade him for anybody in America.”
