What Evan Stewart brings to Steve Sarkisian’s offense

No other uncommitted prospect could have been a bigger commitment than Evan Stewart. Here are a few things he will bring to Texas’ offense.

Open field ability

Mix in a versatile receiver who is one of the quickest players on the field and you’re going to find a yards after the catch machine. While Stewart is going to be able to burn defenders running vertically, his best area in a Steve Sarkisian offense is going to be in the open field.

Crossing routes, screens, and jet sweeps are all plays that come to mind where Stewart is going to be able to excel. If blocked for correctly and only one defender has the ability to make a tackle, Stewart is going to find a way to win that battle. Not only with his speed but elusiveness and ability to make guys miss in the open.

Sarkisian’s offense has made a killing within the RPO game and getting his guys in open space. Jerry Jeudy, Henry Ruggs, Jaylen Waddle, and DeVonta Smith all turned into first-round picks because of it. If Texas is able to get Stewart into favorable open field matchups, the benefits are going to reap often.
