What Evan Stewart brings to Steve Sarkisian’s offense

No other uncommitted prospect could have been a bigger commitment than Evan Stewart. Here are a few things he will bring to Texas’ offense.

Speed

When Steve Sarkisian arrived on campus, he noticed two things about the wide receiver room. There was an overflow of players, and as a whole, they lacked elite-level speed. Stewart’s commitment and eventual arrival on campus is going to change that drastically.

If watching his tape is not enough for you, Stewart has the track numbers to verify how fast he is. The four-star prospect clocked a time of 10.74 in the 100 meter and 21.08 in the 200 meter during his sophomore year before COVID-19 shut down the 2020 season. Not many defenders are going to be able to keep up with Stewart.

In Tom Herman’s offense, it was about using bigger receivers and getting them in favorable contested matchups. Lil’Jordan Humphrey and Collin Johnson are names who come to mind. Sarkisian is going to overhaul the wide receiver room and make sure the slowest guy on the team still has barn-burning speed. Stewart is the beginning of a rebirth.
