Evan Wash, the NBA’s Executive Vice President of Basketball Strategy and Analytics, appeared on ESPN’s “NBA Today” show to discuss the format and goals of the new tournament.

The format features group play leading to knockout stages, strategically timed to invigorate the regular season without disrupting playoff aspirations. Feedback from teams has been positive; enthusiasm has surrounded the tournament’s launch. However, success will be gauged through viewership, attendance and fan feedback.
