After what felt like months of endless speculation and rumors, the Tennessee Titans finally landed their big fish of the offseason in the form of perennial All-Pro wideout, DeAndre Hopkins.
The expected addition of the future Hall of Famer will instantly give the Titans’ offense a much more balanced attack than they’ve had in recent years.
His presence alone will now allow Burks to take on No. 2 corners, which will prove to be a massive difference-maker for the second-year wideout, who was expected to face heavy coverage had the Titans not landed Hopkins.
Then, in an ideal world, Burks will ball out and DHop will have the luxury of being able to take advantage of his matchups against mostly inferior defensive backs that he’s seldom faced in the past.
Also, having a top receiver tandem that defenses are scared of will inevitably open things up for Derrick Henry.
But wait, there’s more.
You then combine those three with Chigoziem Okonkwo and Kyle Philips over the middle and suddenly this Titans offense has something potentially very potent to work with now.
Not to mention, the Titans’ defense should be good enough to hold opposing teams to a reasonable score on a weekly basis, which will take pressure off the entire unit.
Hopkins’ transition to Tennessee figures to be smooth considering he has a history of previous success when working with offensive coordinator Tim Kelly from their days together with the Houston Texans.
Hopkins has also stated he’s a fan of head coach Mike Vrabel, who he spent time with in Houston from 2014-17. The veteran praised the Titans’ decision to hire Vrabel back in 2018 — and now he finally gets the chance to play for him while running the entire show.
Regardless of how the national media will portray this move, it changes everything for the Titans, who are now much more formidable, especially when it comes to their prospects in the AFC South.
Expectations and excitement instantly went through the roof the second this news officially broke. For everybody’s sake, let’s just hope it works out much better than the last Hall of Fame wideout the Titans acquired.
