What Colts GM Chris Ballard said after Day 2 of the draft

Here’s what Colts GM Chris Ballard said following Day 2 of the 2022 NFL draft.

The Indianapolis Colts had a busy start to their weekend as they finally made selections during the 2022 NFL draft on Friday night.

Day 2 of the draft commenced at 7:00 p.m. ET, and the Colts got their party started by moving back in a trade with the Minnesota Vikings, netting an extra-third pick in the process.

Then, it was clear what the plan was. The Colts were going to bet on high-end traits with elite athletes at positions of need. That resulted in the selections of wide receiver Alec Pierce, tight end Jelani Woods and offensive tackle Bernhard Raimann.

Just when it looked like Indy was done for the night, they traded back into the third round to draft S Nick Cross, who is one of the most athletic players in the class.

Ballard quickly met with the media late Friday night to give some insight as to how they viewed Day 2 as a whole and what led them to make these selections.
