The moment many will remember from the Bills’ loss to the Broncos in Week 10 will be the late field goal miss turned game-winning kick after a 12 men on the field penalty.
Prior to that, Bills cornerback Taron Johnson had a huge impact on the game.
Sean McDermott, the defensive play caller for the Bills, called an all-out blitz. Broncos quarterback Russell Wilson had just enough time to get the ball out for a prayer. It was a short pass, but the veteran put the ball up there just to see what would happen.
And what did was a pass interference penalty from Johnson on Broncos receiver Jerry Jeudy… one he did not agree with.
“To be honest, I don’t know how I could have played it better,” Johnson said.
At the end of the day, McDermott himself didn’t knock Johnson or the defense for their efforts in the 24-22 loss. The unit did have positive moments and he was in no mood to let Johnson’s error damper his feelings.
Those guys played their a—– off, they really did,” McDermott said via video conference. “So, I applaud them for it. Certainly, work to do there, as well, but they played hard, and I appreciate that.”
