The Buffalo Bills have made their first in-person address of the allegations that surfaced regarding pass rusher Von Miller during the team’s bye week.
On Nov. 30, the 34-year-old had a warrant issued for his arrest relating to a domestic abuse incident in the Dallas area. The accusation reportedly came from Miller’s pregnant girlfriend.
Miller did turn himself in a short time later and faces an assault of a pregnant person charge which is a third-degree felony.
Following the initial report, the Bills (6-6) released a statement on Miller only acknowledging the news.
On Wednesday, Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane spoke as the Bills are now coming out of their bye week.
Miller, an eight-time Pro Bowler, signed a six-year, $120 million contract with the team ahead of the 2022 season. This season he has no sacks since his Week 5 return from a season-ending knee injury last year.
Beane updated that Miller is with the team in Orchard Park as of Wednesday as preparations for the Kansas City Chiefs begin.
“There’s not a lot that I can say. Von is here to be a part of the team,” Beane said.
The GM added “we have to let the legal process play out” and mentioned it would be “out of character for the person we know” if the allegations were true.
However, in 2021, Miller reportedly was investigated by police in Parker, Colorado, but was ultimately not charged. At that time, he was playing for the Denver Broncos, and specific details on that investigation have not been made public, nor has Miller commented on it.
