In the eyes of the Sports Illustrated NBA experts behind a new assessment of the Boston Celtics, the team has three major issues heading into the 2022-23 NBA season.
First is the season-long suspension of head coach Ime Udoka. What sort of effect will his absence (and the presence of his replacement, interim head coach Joe Mazzulla) have on the organization?
Second, there’s the question of how amazingly well the Celtics — and more specifically, star wings Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown — played last season. How do we know they can do it again in 2022-23?
Third is whether trading non-rotation players for Malcolm Brogdon was enough to put them over the top for a 2023 NBA title.
Take a look at the clip embedded above to hear what they have to say about this trio of concerns that will go a long way toward deciding the success of the season based on how we answer them a little less than a year from now.
