Alabama escaped chaos on Saturday after fending off a surging Arkansas Razorbacks football team and winning 42-35.
Crimson Tide quarterback Bryce Young set an Alabama program record in single-game passing yards with 559. He also threw five touchdown passes on the day.
The Alabama offense as a collective unit dominated the Hogs defense. They put up 671 yards of total offense.
The defense, on the other hand, broke down and allowed 468 yards of total offense. Razorbacks QB KJ Jefferson threw for 326 yards and three touchdowns.
At this point in the season, Alabama’s defense remains its primary weakness. While improving, they still show signs of confusion at times.
Heading into Week 13 the Crimson Tide sits at 10-1. Only Auburn remains on the regular-season slate before the SEC Championship Game is played on Dec. 4 against the Georgia Bulldogs.
As long as Alabama takes care of business against Auburn and takes down UGA, the Crimson Tide should easily find their way into the CFP.
Elsewhere around the top four, No. 3 Oregon was beatdown by Utah 38-7.
Alabama could potentially see themselves lose a spot in the CFP rankings to No. 4 Ohio State after the Buckeyes absolutely demolished No. 7 Michigan State by a score of 56-7.
Cincinnati has a chance to squeeze into the No. 4 spot of the CFP poll after Oregon’s tumble. However, the Michigan Wolverines might end up seizing the position after a 59-18 win over Maryland.
All told, the Crimson Tide remains in a prime position to get a spot in the CFP. Simply win from this point forward and you’re in.
