WFAN hosts impressed after Joe Judge’s fiery Giants introduction

WFAN hosts Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti came away impressed after Joe Judge’s fiery New York Giants introduction.

Many New York Giants fans likely had no idea who Joe Judge was a few months ago. Heck, some of them probably had to Google him last week when the Giants requested permission from the New England Patriots to talk to Judge about their head coaching vacancy.

According to John Mara, Judge nailed his interview with Giants brass and ended up landing the job to become the 19th coach in the history of the organization.

Mara and Steve Tisch have already said they will have more patience than they did with the previous two head coaches and they expect Judge to be here for a long time.

With little knowledge about Judge other than the fact that he worked under and came with high praises from Bill Belichick and Nick Saban, Giants fans anxiously waited to hear their new leader talk about what he is going to bring to the table on Thursday.

And by all accounts, Judge nailed it.

In fact, WFAN radio hosts Boomer Esiason and Gregg Giannotti were impressed as well.

“It was a good press conference. He said the stuff he needed to say. It was all the smash-you-in-the-mouth, blue-collar stuff that a fan base loves to hear. A football guy in charge of your football team. I mean, to act as this was like the greatest press conference ever in the history of New York sports I think was a little bit much. And the whole ‘I’m running through a wall for this guy’ is a little bit much. And I do have a couple questions about that type of guy in his first job as a head coach relating to players. But as far as a first impression went, you can’t say a lot of negative things about it.” Giannotti said of the Giants new head coach.

Judge was nothing but impressive and you could see he was all business even before his presser as the Giants released an exclusive interview with Bob Papa about an hour before the presser.

Boomer also thought it was easy to see how he impressed the Giants.

“If I told you or asked you about an idea about a particular team in the NFL and you want a tough team, you want a physical team, you would think that Philadelphia’s at the top of that list. You would think that Baltimore is at the top of that list. You would think that Tennessee is there. All these teams that are successful, that have made the playoffs. There are some teams that just don’t come off as physical, but those couple of teams do. And I think that’s exactly what Joe Judge wants right here. And that is music to the Giant fan’s ear,” he said.

Judge, of course, along with General Manager Dave Gettleman, have a busy and crucial offseason ahead which includes a nice pocket of change to spend in free agency and the fourth overall pick. Words don’t matter until fans can see the Giants improve and get some wins on the board, but so far Judge has been impressive and said all the right things.
