West Virginia notched its fifth straight win on Sunday, taking down the Mercyhurst Lakers 67-46. The Mountaineers didn’t cover the 32.5-point spread as the Under 136 cashed. West Virginia at Kansas picks and predictions

Prediction

Kansas 72, West Virginia 64

Moneyline

PASS.

I believe the Jayhawks (-900) get the win at home, but it’ll be a tightly contested battle at Allen Fieldhouse. I’ll take my wager to the spread.

Against the spread

BET WEST VIRGINIA +12.5 (-105).

The Jayhawks have had West Virginia’s number lately, winning 8 of the last 10 meetings, and the Mountaineers are 0-11 in Lawrence. That said, this Kansas team isn’t flawless, and they’ll face a gritty West Virginia squad riding a 5-game win streak. The Mountaineers play solid defense, holding teams to 63.8 points per game (PPG) and just 28.7% shooting from deep.

They’ve tested themselves early with games against Gonzaga, Pittsburgh, Louisville, Arizona and Georgetown, even pushing Gonzaga to overtime by limiting their star to just 5 points. West Virginia’s defense should give them a shot to keep Dickinson in check and hang around in this one. Take the Mountaineers with the points.

Over/Under

BET OVER 142.5 (-105).

I’m all in on the Under for Tuesday night.

Both teams boast elite defenses. West Virginia has held its last 4 opponents to just 53 PPG, while Kansas has limited its last 6 opponents at Allen Fieldhouse to 59.8 PPG. The Under has hit in 4 of the Mountaineers’ last 6 and in 10 of the Jayhawks’ last 11. With both squads locking things down defensively, there’s every reason to back the Under in this game.
