West Virginia at Iowa State: Three things to know
- The Mountaineers head to Ames looking to carry over the momentum from last week’s 24-6 win over TCU. It was their season-high third consecutive cover. The Under has also cashed in the past two.
- Iowa State is 38th in the country with 437.1 total yards per game with 195.9 rushing yards per outing to rank 37th. The Cyclones are also 38th in the nation with 33.1 points per game. Defensively, the Cyclones are 20th overall with just 110.1 rushing yards per game allowed, and they’re yielding just 23.0 PPG to rank 26th in the country.
- The road team is 5-2-1 ATS in the past eight battles in this series, but the favorite is 4-1-1 ATS in the past six meetings. The Under has connected in five of the previous six in this series.

Money line (ML)
Iowa State (-233) should be able to pick up a victory at Jack Trice Saturday, but West Virginia is certainly no pushover. AVOID.
Against the spread (ATS)
IOWA STATE -6 (-110) pounded West Virginia 38-14 as a nine-point favorite in last season’s meeting. WVU is 0-2-1 ATS in the past three meetings in this series, although the Mountaineers covered the spread in their previous three before Iowa State’s nice run.
The Mountaineers are 5-1 ATS in their past six meetings, but they’re 0-3 straight up on the road while covering just one of those outings. As such, West Virginia cannot be trusted in this one. Play this one lightly, however, as it will be a lower-scoring game.
Over/Under (O/U)
UNDER 48.5 (-106) is the lean, cashing in five of the past six in this series. The Under is 21-6-1 in Iowa State’s past 28 against teams with a winning record, and 26-10-1 in their past 37 as a favorite at Jack Trice Stadium.
The Under is also a perfect 8-0 in West Virginia’s past eight as an underdog, and 9-3 in the past 12 conference tilts, while going 5-0 in the past five as a road dog.
