Boise State is in prime position.

There were no surprises when it came to where Boise State was ranked in the latest College Football Playoffs. The Broncos came in at No. 20 and are behind both Memphis and Cincinnati. However, the big news is that the Bearcats dropped two spots which could come into play over the next few weeks and help Boise State.

The big thing that could be an issue with the Broncos and earning the New Year’s Six bid is a gap between them and Boise State.

Moving up the rankings is fine and well-deserved but as mentioned before is that the Tigers and Bearcats are most likely playing back-to-back. That second game, if played, would be for the AAC title and possibly a Cotton Bowl berth.

Basically, there is a roadblock for the Broncos and they need help, as we say in our weekly column about pecking order for the Group of Five bid. Until an AAC team, or two, slip up these rankings are just for show for the Broncos.
