The Week 2 Amway Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports dropped today and now does not include the Big Ten, Pac 12 or any other teams that, as of today, are not playing this fall.
The poll has Clemson retaining the top spot and Alabama, Oklahoma, Florida, Notre Dame and Texas all rising after their wins this weekend and with Ohio State, Penn State and others no longer included.
As Jeff Potrykus of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reported today, though, “For the first time since the Big Ten shut down fall sports on Aug. 11, sources familiar with the situation have transitioned from hopeful to confident the league’s football teams will play in 2020.”
The Big Ten Council of Presidents are expected to vote early this week on starting the season with the target date being October 17.
Were this vote to go in favor of starting the season, the Badgers and other Big Ten teams will both begin playing their conference schedule and rejoin the national picture.
After a No. 12 ranking in the first edition of the Amway Coaches Poll, Paul Chryst and the Wisconsin Badgers would likely rejoin the rankings in a similar position as they prepare to play in mid-October.
