For the second year in a row NBA All-Star Game captains LeBron James and Giannis Antetokounmpo went on TNT on Thursday night and picked their teams for the upcoming game in Chicago.
And once again LeBron fleeced Giannis, who proved that last year wasn’t a fluke and that he actually stinks at picking All-Star teams.
This year’s game is already virtually over, which doesn’t matter all that much but still – how can someone so good at basketball be so bad at picking basketball players for his team?
LeBron got the first pick and went with his teammate, Anthony Davis. Giannis then picked… Joel Embiid.
For real.
Embiid has been battling injuries and poor play so far this season but that didn’t stop Giannis from picking the Sixers big man when guys like Kawhi Leonard, James Harden, and Luka Doncic were available.
Again, this isn’t anything of real importance, but c’mon Giannis!
Speaking of those guys I just mentioned… LeBron picked Kawhi with his third pick… and Giannis followed with Pascal Siakam.
Then LeBron took Doncic… and Giannis followed with Kemba Walker.
Then LeBron took Harden… and Giannis followed with Trae Young.

Giannis is like that friend of yours that knows football, shows up to your fantasy draft with a ton of notes, and then panics when it’s is turn to take a guy and ends up picking a defense in the third round.
Giannis’ picks for his bench went much like his pick for his starters – LeBron worked him.
Many NBA fans who are interested in this exhibition game couldn’t believe that Giannis picked the guys that he picked. Some wondered if he was intoxicated during the draft or if he was blindfolded.
He wasn’t either of those things, of course, but he still wasn’t great.
Maybe we’re all wrong and Giannis’ team will click in a few weeks in Chicago. All the players on his team are very good basketball players, after all.
But it’s just good to know that none of us are perfect. Giannis is the reigning NBA MVP and he’s currently in the middle of a year that is even better than that dominant season. A second MVP award should be his when this season comes to a close.
He won’t win any awards, however, for picking All-Star teams. Because man did he get run over by LeBron on national television yet again.
