Trey Lance let the emotions of a stressful process out Thursday night when the 49ers called to make him the No. 3 overall pick in the 2021 NFL draft. North Dakota State wide receiver and Lance’s friend, Phoenix Sproles, was in Lance’s pod in the green room at the draft in Cleveland and filmed the moment Lance got the call from the 49ers.
Lance in his post-draft press conference called the draft process the longest job interview he’s ever had, so his happiness when it paid off by becoming the third overall pick isn’t a huge surprise. He called it “a surreal feeling” when he got the call from the 49ers since there was so much uncertainty around the pick.
Seeing players’ in this moment of happiness is awesome, and Sproles did an excellent job of getting an up-close look backstage with the QB.
