Xavier Worthy might not have a spot on the quarterback depth chart, but he sure can throw a pretty football.
Worthy connected with Ja’Tavion Sanders on a trick play for a touchdown against West Virginia in the first half. Hudson Card threw what looked to be a screen behind the line before Worthy threw a forward pass to a wide open Sanders.
The play provided a nice cushion to build confidence for the Longhorns offense. Texas is looking to avoid forfeiting an early lead like last week, and manufacturing early touchdowns is a wise approach. With all the pressure facing Hudson Card, Steve Sarkisian gave his starter more margin for error.

Texas should have something special planned for Oklahoma, despite Saturday’s creativity. While it’s natural to be cautious not to waste trick plays, this is a must-win game for the health of the program.
Sarkisian’s play calling so far is off to a solid start. He’ll need to continue creativity next week.
