WATCH: Texas QB Quinn Ewers hits WR Xavier Worthy for a 42-yard score

Ewers dropped a dime to Worthy to give Texas a 14-0 lead over Houston.

Texas started hot in the first half against the Houston Cougars. It looks as if the team improved significantly in sharpness over the bye week.

The Longhorns brought a far more consistent product to start the game. Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers delivered with a strong start on the day. In his first two drives, Ewers completed 9 of 10 passes for 110 yards and two touchdowns.

The first touchdown went to Adonai Mitchell who created significant separation to secure the touchdown by the sideline boundary. The second touchdown was more impressive.

Ewers dropped into a clean pocket and delivered a beautiful 42-yard pass to Xavier Worthy over the talented wide receiver’s shoulder. After beating his man, Worthy caught the pass and finished the touchdown play.

We have noted the team’s struggles early in games, but there’s been no issue in scoring for the Longhorns early. The Texas coaching staff deserves credit for a stronger, sharper first half start.
