The excitement surrounding the Texas football program after the hiring of former Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian is high enough, but the Longhorns social media department seemingly heightens those emotions each week by releasing hype videos.
On Tuesday, a video clip was released of Sarkisian addressing the team during a conditioning workout. Several other assistant coaches were present, led by director of football performance Torre Becton.
Sarkisian and Becton want to incorporate a velocity-based training program that emphasizes how quick the player can move the weight rather than how much weight that the player can move. It’s essentially replacing one-repetition maximum training.
It’s apparent in the latest video clip that Texas is continuing to work on improving three key fitness factors — speed, agility, and quickness.

Bijan Robinson, Hudson Card, Jared Wiley, Jake Smith and Roschon Johnson were a few of the notable players that appeared in the video. At first glance, it’s promising to see how much Card has bulked up over the last few months.
Sarkisian reiterated to his players that ‘today is the most important day’ in terms of preparation. “The teams with discipline, the teams with commitment, the teams with accountability — all of the time, not some of the time, all of the time with championships,” Sarkisian stated.
When the first-year head coach mentioned that the work at Texas would be “All gas and no brakes,” he wasn’t kidding.
