WATCH: Texas football offseason workouts are heating up

Bijan Robinson does not skip leg day.

The Texas football program has found itself in a familiar situation, which is coming off a let down season after having high expectations.

Going into the 2021 season, there was an extreme amount of hype surrounding Steve Sarkisian, as the former Alabama offensive coordinator was supposed to revolutionize the Texas offense and help the program compete on a national level.

That didn’t happen, not even in the slightest, as the Longhorns made history for all the wrong reasons. After starting the season off 4-1, they would go on to blow multiple double-digit leads, and lose the next six games. The team lacked depth pretty much everywhere on the roster, the offensive line couldn’t block a rock, the defensive line was constantly gashed by opposing running backs, and the quarterback play was subpar at best.

Now that Sarkisian has had the chance to bring in his own recruits, and bolster up the staff by adding Gary Patterson, there is a newfound hype surrounding the program again.

With offseason workouts picking up, there seems to be a great ordeal of intensity, which is just what the program needs. Players like Bijan Robinson and Xavier Worthy will be more important than ever this season, as they need to help take the team to the next level.

The offseason will give the team a chance to get stronger mentally and physically, and hopefully for the sake of Longhorns fans, start trending upwards for the season.

Texas’ offseason in terms of figuring out who will start, who will step up, and simply what the team is made of will be fascinating to watch as time goes on. This team and staff know how much pressure there is, but whether they can live up to it is to be determined.
