Several of the nation’s top prospects are currently competing at the Pylon 7on7 tournament in Bullhead City, Arizona.
The Longhorns are well-represented at the event. Five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy, four-star running back Jaydon Blue, and four-star cornerback Jaylon Guilbeau are among the Texas commits competing.
Newly hired head coach Steve Sarkisian has done an impeccable job on the recruiting trail since arriving on the Forty Acres. In less than two months, he has put together the No. 5 recruiting class in the nation for the 2022 cycle and continues to build momentum.
Two of his best recruiting tools in the form of players, Blue and Murphy, appear to be working their magic at the Pylon 7on7 event. The impressive duo is getting in the ear of many of Texas’ top priorities on the recruiting trail, including five-star wide receiver Kevin Coleman.
In terms of on-field performance, many eyes were on Murphy in Arizona as his game action has been limited. His junior season at Junipero Serra High School was cancelled due to COVID-19. Prior to that, he received only limited playing time as a backup while simultaneously dealing with injuries.
Mike Roach, recruiting editor for Horns247, did an incredible job capturing Murphy’s highlights from day one and day two of the Pylon 7on7 tournament.
There’s a reason Texas fans are excited about their signal caller of the future.
