The Dallas Cowboys opened up their Week 14 game playing defense, their achilles heel on the 2020 season. Not opening up, mind you, just playing defense in general. They bucked the trend early though, as star defensive end DeMarcus Lawrence stripped Gio Bernard on the second play of the game.

Cornerback Jourdan Lewis, named a captain for the game, recovered the ball to give Dallas great field position.

After converting an early third down to Michael Gallup though, quarterback Andy Dalton was sacked on third down and the club wasn’t able to score a touchdown despite reaching the end zone. The Cowboys settled for a Greg Zuerlein field goal and an early 3-0 lead.

The fumble was Bernard’s first in over 800 carries and the recovery was Lewis’ fourth of his career. Lawrence now has three forced fumbles in 2020.
