WATCH: Rookie point guard Payton Pritchard scores 22 points for Celtics in Nets loss

The first-year floor general was a key part of Boston pushing the Nets to the final buzzer.

While some of his thunder was stolen by the lack of a win in Friday night’s 109 – 104 loss to the East’s first-place Brooklyn Nets, rookie Boston Celtics point guard Payton Pritchard had one of his highest-scoring games of the season, only bested by his 23-point outing against the Toronto Raptors back on Jan. 4.

The University of Oregon product put up 22 points on 8-of-12 shooting including a red-hot 7-of-8 from 3-point range, joining teammates Jayson Tatum and Marcus Smart as one of only three Celtics in double figures on the night. That he managed the feat in only 24 minutes of game time hints at a bright future for Pritchard in the Association, with consistency the biggest obstacle to a major role on a team with designs for a deep playoff run.

His 0 total turnovers and just 1 personal foul for the game only adds weight to such projections.
