Ronda Rousey and Shayna Baszler haven’t been on the same side very often during the time they’ve been in WWE together. Except for a brief time before she left to have her first child, Rousey has consistently been positioned as a fan favorite, albeit one with a healthy distaste for authority.
Baszler, on the other hand, has mostly been a villain, one who gets as much enjoyment out of hurting opponents as she does from winning matches. Yet Rousey and Baszler are real life friends dating back to their time as professional MMA fighters, and that relationship has bled into their WWE interactions — most recently when Baszler tried to calm Rousey down and tell her to so things the right way when Ronda was protesting her (storyline) suspension.
One thing they both have in common is a desire to dethrone Liv Morgan as SmackDown Women’s Champion. Rousey lost that title to Morgan when Liv cashed in her Money in the Bank contract after Ronda had already been weakened from a match with Natalya, then lost the rematch in controversial (again, in the storyline) fashion.
But it’s Baszler who has a shot at Morgan at the upcoming Clash at the Castle premium live event, and to that end, Rousey doesn’t mind sharing some tactics on how to defeat Liv. She recently shared a video to her YouTube page, which you can see below, showing her offering some thoughts on how to counter some of the champ’s trademark moves.
There are definitely still some of the standard character bits in there, with Baszler showing a bit of a cavalier attitude toward the whole thing and Rousey imploring her to take Morgan seriously and be as prepared as possible. That’s exactly what you’d expect from a babyface trying to help a heel.
Still, it’s fun that regardless of how they are positioned with the fans, WWE allows Rousey and Baszler to have moments like this together. If they ever united for real, watch out.
