WATCH: Reacting to Bill Russell’s 2nd Hall of Fame induction, 2008 title core feud potential thaw

Saturday was a night for the ages, with Bill Russell getting into the Hoops Hall for a second time and the Banner 17 feud inching towards detente.

In the aftermath of both Boston Celtics icons Paul Pierce and Bill Russell being inducted into the Naismith Memorial Basketball Hall of Fame — Russell for his second time as a coach — the outline of the league’s historical profile shifted ever so slightly, but importantly.

A growing awareness perhaps not as present as it should have been among younger Celtics and NBA fans of the cultural impact of Russell not only on the game but on US society more generally seems to have more firmly talent root at the same time as the longstanding feud between the various players from Boston’s last title looks to have relaxed, if but a bit.

Around the common cause of remembering all-time greats, past slights can be healed — and that healing and increased awareness were the topics of conversation between host of ESPN’s “The Jump” Richard Jefferson and Marc J. Spears of The Undefeated.

Give the video embedded above for some takes on both of these entangled Celtics topics as we wrap up our coverage of this year’s Hoops Hall inductions.
