WATCH: Patriots K Joey Slye drills record-setting field goal kick

This kick was absolutely ridiculous

New England Patriots kicker Joey Syle scored the only points for the team in the first half of Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers. He set a new franchise record by drilling a 63-yard field goal through the uprights and giving New England their first points of the game.

The score came at the end of the first half and concluded a four-play drive that took 38 seconds. The Patriots only had minus-six yards on the drive, but Slye’s kick ensured that it wasn’t a wasted opportunity.

The field goal kick is tied for the fourth-longest in NFL history. It gave the Patriots some much-needed momentum heading into the locker room.

Patriots fans are hoping the offense can show more fight down the stretch.

Slye has been one of the few positive playmakers for the team. He’s a solid addition after the team struggled in the field goal kicking department throughout the 2023 season with Chad Ryland as the starter.

With that said, the Patriots need more than field goals to win football games.
