And the crowd goes wild!
Fuzzy’s Bar in Trey Lance’s hometown of Marshall, Minn. was packed Thursday night for the NFL draft where the town’s prodigal son was expected to go as high as No. 3 overall.
There was a chance the 49ers skipped on Lance, leading to a bit of a slide for the former North Dakota State star. San Francisco didn’t let the crowd at Fuzzy’s down though, and selected Lance with third overall pick. The bar celebrated the way they might if the Vikings ever win a Super Bowl.
Lance grew up in Marshall, Minn. and could’ve stayed in the state for college football, but NDSU was the only school that wanted him as a quarterback. The move paid off with Lance earning a 17-0 record and a national championship during his time as the starter for the Bison. His rise was capped when he became a top-three pick, and the only people more excited than the 49ers might’ve been the packed house at Fuzzy’s.
