Former Alabama quarterback Mac Jones was drafted No. 15 overall by the New England Patriots in the 2021 NFL draft. He’s expected to sit below former NFL MVP Cam Newton, who is with the team on a one-year contract.
Jones, however, has been outperforming expectations during this preseason, and there is speculation that he could become the team’s starter at some point during his rookie season.
Tonight, the Patriots faced off against the Washington Football Team in a preseason matchup at Foxborough.
Mac Jones didn’t start the game, but made his professional debut in the first quarter. When he ran out, fans cheered and gave him a standing ovation.

Jones earned his first completion just a few seconds later. A seven-yard pass to Kristian Wilkerson.
