Mac Jones is solidifying his standing in the offense for the New England Patriots.
Just two years removed from Tom Brady, the Patriots may have the guy that they’ve hoped for since Brady moved on to Tampa Bay in 2020.
So far during the 2021 season, Jones has thrown for 1,779 yards. He’s connected on touchdown passes nine times on the season compared to his six interceptions.
In the preseason, Jones beat out former Auburn QB Cam Newton for the starting job in New England.
One question for Jones, if a question at all, has been his deep-ball ability. It hasn’t come to fruition much in his rookie NFL season, but Alabama fans know well how good his deep throw is.
Early in the first quarter against the Los Angeles Chargers, Jones tossed a 44-yard bomb to WR Nelson Agholor.

In the ensuing drive, Jones marched his offense down within the one-yard line.
Jones made a handoff to fellow Alabama alum and former Crimson Tide RB Damien Harris, who would not disappoint.
Harris punches it in for six with seemingly little effort.
