Matthew Stafford didn’t know what kind of reception he would get from Lions fans on Sunday night in his return to Detroit, but supporters in the stands wasted no time welcoming him back to Ford Field.
Only, their welcome wasn’t warm. They booed him ruthlessly as he took the field before the game, raining boobirds down on No. 9 in the white, yellow and blue jersey.
Stafford took the field hours before kickoff just to take in the scene in his hold stadium, but that was before fans were in the stands. it was before warmups that they booed him.

Not only did they boo Stafford, but they chanted Jared Goff’s name. It’s quite the raucous crowd in Detroit, not that it’s surprising.
This is the Lions’ first home playoff game in 30 years.
