Duke basketball couldn’t have dreamed of a better start against Virginia on Saturday night.
The Blue Devils made a field goal on each of their first four possessions and rattled off a 14-2 run in the opening five minutes. Sophomore Kyle Filipowski led the charge with 15 points in the first 15 minutes of the game, including multiple tough shots in the paint and a statement three early in the game.
However, none of Filipowski’s baskets were louder than the dunk he threw down with five minutes left in the half.
With Duke already leading 33-13, Filipowski got his hands on a Virginia inbounds pass and outran everyone in transition, giving him an open look at the basket. The Duke sophomore took advantage, leaping into the air and windmilling the ball into the basket for a thunderous dunk.
