Watch: Kirk Cousins arrives to Vikings training camp early

Captain Kirk is in the building!

Minnesota Vikings quarterback Kirk Cousins isn’t wasting any time getting to work for the upcoming 2022 season.

The three-time Pro Bowler arrived at training camp on Sunday, a couple of days before the veterans are expected to show up. Rookies reported on Sunday, and quarterbacks were allowed to report on that day as well.

Every season comes with a lot of pressure, but an argument could be made this is the most pressure Cousins has faced in his entire NFL career. He has never been surrounded with more offensive talent, and he’ll be working with an offensive-minded head coach in Kevin O’Connell, who just helped the Los Angeles Rams win a Super Bowl as an offensive coordinator.

Throw in the fact that Cousins will be entering a contract year in 2023 and it’s obvious just how important this season will be for the veteran signal-caller.

If the Vikings fall flat, again, the team could be forced into the position to blow up the roster and start from scratch. Granted, moving on from Cousins’ contract won’t be easy considering he signed a no-trade clause in his extension in the offseason.

But the hope is that the arrival of O’Connell, a new coaching staff and an influx of young defensive talent can help the Vikings turn a corner.
