Former Alabama running back Kenyan Drake has had an interesting time getting adjusted into the NFL after being drafted by the Miami Dolphins in the third round in 2016.
Miami was clearly not the best place for Drake, but after being traded to the Arizona Cardinals, Drake has become a reliable backfield asset that is recognized across the league.
Drake joined the “Jim Rome Show” to discuss the offseason, his teammates and his excitement for his second season with the Cardinals.
“It was definitely stepping stones in the right direction for myself personally,” Drake says. “But for the team, itself, we definitely used those wins to kind of catapult us into this season. Obviously, we’re picking up [Hopkins], a couple of guys on the defensive side, drafting Isaiah Simmons in the first round. We definitely feel like, now, and along with the rest of the NFL, that we put them on notice that we’re really trying to take that next step. Obviously, with Kyler coming into his second year, we’re excited to kind of get back into the swing of things. Everybody coming together so we can put this thing together and get this show on the road.”
He will look to build off of a 2019 campaign with Arizona that resulted in 643 yards and eight touchdowns on the ground and 171 yards from 28 receptions.
