Tennessee has hired Josh Heupel as its next football head coach.
Heupel comes to Tennessee after serving in the same capacity at the University of Central Florida.
At UCF, Heupel compiled a 28-8 record and went 1-2 in bowl games in three seasons.

Heupel was Oklahoma’s starting quarterback in 2000 when the Sooners won the BCS national championship.
He has Southeastern Conference coaching experience after serving as Missouri’s offensive coordinator and quarterbacks coach in 2016-17.
“I am thrilled to be coming to Tennessee,” Heupel said in a University of Tennessee press release. “I understand that Volunteer fans are hungry for a return to the top that they so richly deserve, and it is my goal and commitment to bring a championship back to Rocky Top.”
