The 49ers nearly botched their trip to the red zone after a big play by Deebo Samuel. On a third-and-goal from the 2, it looked like a play designed to go to Samuel as a runner was mistimed. Instead of hitting the panic button, Garoppolo took the snap and ran alongside Samuel behind his blockers for a touchdown.
Kicker Joey Slye missed the ensuing extra point to keep the 49ers from tying the game at 16.
