WATCH: Jay Ward’s interception of Rhett Rodgriguez sets up another score

Jay Ward came close to a pick six…

Following the missed field goal from Cade York, it seemed like some weird things going on in Death Valley. The LSU Tigers were up 7-0 with ULM in possession of the football deep in their own territory. The Warhawks faced a third down and 14 to go, Jay Ward stepped in front of the receiver and picked off the pass. He would return it all the way for a touchdown, or so we thought.

After a review, it put the ball on the 34-yard line in ULM territory where Ward stepped out of bounds. The Tigers were still in a prime position to put some points on the board early in the second quarter.

A pass to Devonta Lee fell incomplete in the end zone. On second down Trey Palmer slipped on a corner route that could have been a touchdown. This put pressure on Max Johnson to put points on the board. Rushing to his left, he threw across his body to the middle of the field that fell to the turn. Cade York would come onto the field to put three on the board for the Bayou Bengals.

Tigers lead 10-0.
