He didn’t break the record, but Alabama wide receiver Henry Ruggs III still set the Lucas Oil Stadium turf on fire with his 40-yard dash at the 2020 NFL Scouting Combine.
One of the top receiver prospects in the 2020 NFL draft class, Ruggs was expected to challenge John Ross’ combine record of 4.22 seconds. He didn’t match that number, but Ruggs still set the bar for this year’s wide receiver group with a 4.28-second run.

It’s hard to imagine being disappointed with those kind of numbers, but Ruggs will definitely be looking to improve that number at his pro day workout later in the predraft process.
In the meantime, he can plan on hearing his name called in the top half of this year’s first round.
